Biden unveils his winter strategy to fight COVID-19

US President Joe Biden has laid out his strategy to fight the coronavirus as Americans head into winter. White House officials have confirmed three cases of the Omicron variant.

Biden unveiled his plan Thursday during a visit to the National Institutes of Health near Washington. He said his administration would fight the “science and speed, not chaos and confusion” variant.

Pharmacies will offer more options for vaccinations, including boosters. Hundreds of new clinics will make it easier for parents and children to get vaccinated.

Administration officials have secured 13 million antiviral treatments for those infected. That’s 6 times the number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 this year.

Biden wants to make sure Americans have access to the tests. His administration will distribute millions of kits so that people can control themselves, at home and for free.

White House officials will also tighten restrictions on air travel. They demanded that international visitors test negative within three days before boarding a flight. From now on, people of all nationalities will have to test negative within one day of their departure.
