Japan: Visit of a special envoy of the Prime Minister for the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic of KenyaMr. MAKIHARA Hideki, Secretary General of the Japan-African Union (AU) Parliamentary Friendship League, visited Kenya from September 12 to 13 as Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio‘s special envoy to attend the investiture ceremony of HE Dr William Samoei RUTO, President of the Republic of Kenya. The overview of the tour is as follows.

  1. On September 13, Special Envoy MAKIHARA attended the inauguration ceremony at the Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, Kenya.
    Special Envoy MAKIHARA had informal talks with many members of the Kenyan government, including Amb. Macharia Kamau, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also had talks with the Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia, Hon. Stanley Kasongo Kakubo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Zambia, HE Mrs. Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative, and Hon. Ms. Vicky Ford, MP, Minister of State for Development at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), among others.
  2. During his visit, Special Envoy MAKIHARA also visited the Kenya Institute of Medical Research and held a discussion with Japanese businessmen in Kenya, as a follow-up to TICAD 8.
