KLIA- Malaysia Airlines and Japanese Airlines (JAL) are pleased to expand their code sharing operations following Malaysia Airlines’ recent announcement of the launch of new direct flights from Kuala Lumpur at TokyoHaneda from August 14, 2022. This important decision reaffirmed the joint venture strategic partnership between the two members of the oneworld alliance in July 2020to better serve customers and facilitate exchanges between Malaysia and Japan.
Departure August 14, 2022codeshare will be extended to Kuala Lumpur – Haneda route with the introduction of JAL codeshare on flights operated by Malaysia Airlines. Customers of Malaysia, ASEAN, Australasiaand South Asia fly with Malaysia Airlines in Haneda will be able to book and connect to more Japanese domestic destinations, including Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Okinawan and connect more to international destinations in North America.
Malaysia Airlines will operate flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Haneda Airport (HND) via MH36 (JL7097) from KUL to 2:45 p.m. local time, and MH37 (JL7096) departing HND at 00:25 local hour. The twice-weekly service will be provided by A330-300 aircraft, equipped with 290 seats, including 27 business class seats, 16 economy class seats with more legroom and 247 economy class seats.

We welcome the timely announcement of from Japan government to open its borders to international tourists from June under restricted conditions and pending a gradual easing of travel restrictions from time to time.
The extended codeshare will further improve the customer experience on flights, providing more convenient and flexible routes. Customers departing from Haneda to Kuala Lumpur can deposit their luggage five (5) hours before departure at the dedicated “Early Check-In” counter at Haneda Airport after completing the kiosk check-in or online check-in on JAL or Malaysia Airlines’ website.
In addition, customers departing from Kuala Lumpur in Haneda can continue to take advantage of the existing early check-in service via the web or at the kiosk and drop off their baggage five (5) hours before departure. These services offered at both airports will allow customers to do last minute shopping or other activities while exploring the airport before departing from both countries.
